Marc Jacobs Beauty Relaunch | Lots of first impression thoughts to share!

I think everyone who was around for the first iteration of this brand has been (im)patiently awaiting its return. While I wasn’t sure how to feel about the packaging at first, though it grew on me. While my general aesthetic is the opposite of whimsical, I enjoy when a brand is willing to make a bold statement and have a bit of fun.

Bronzer: This is arguably one of the products I was most excited for, and it does not disappoint. Incredibly finely milled and blendable. Compared to the Omega Bronze in Tan-Tastic, it is slightly warmer but still a really beautiful shade for fair skin tones and has a slight (but not overt) rosiness.

Eyeshadow: The other product I was most excited about! This is a texture I’ve been keen on lately, and wow are these smooth. The tones of the mattes are beautiful – really nice neutral browns and a stunning burgundy! The shimmers are equally smooth with the exception of Serving, which has a slight grittiness to the touch but still applies very well. I thought Shady and Spicy might be a little lighter + cooler, but still nice and ones that I think will be especially flattering for blue eyes. While certainly warmer, Spicy in particular has a touch of a smoky red that keeps it from going orange. Of course Serving is gorgeous, pleasantly surprising me with its glassy finish! Normally you’d have to go to indie brands for shades remotely close to this. I wasn’t expecting the single eyeshadows to be so popular, but as someone who loves them, definitely happy to see more and can’t wait to really test them.

Lipstick: The buildability and finish of these balmy lip colors is lovely – very comfortable and easy to apply. I was a bit disappointed that Lips Don’t Lie was darker and warmer than anticipated based on the promo photos. The scent smells like Lip Smackers to me, which I could potentially get past if it weren’t for the taste! I don’t know how to describe it other than an unpleasant cosmetic, kind of like an old chapstick? Regardless, it gets stuck in my throat and is something I can’t ignore.

Please share your thoughts on this rebrand!
