The brand pretty consistently expands the available selection but does so with such intention that no shade feels redundant. With the most recent release of more neutrals and muted colors, it felt like the perfect time to celebrate this joyous rainbow. For reference, the newest shades are Aquamarine, Daydreamer, Driftwood, Sage Advice, and Tiny Dancer.
As you can see from having what I believe is every shade ever released, I am a massive fan of this formula. It’s thin and lightweight but buildable while offering great coverage. Most shades apply as a medium coverage off the applicator but can either be sheered out or built up to full coverage.
I’ve mentioned before that shadows don’t stand a chance on me without an eye primer, and these absolutely work as one, maintaining color and vibrancy throughout the entire day with no creasing. My favorite way to use these is as a base for more colorful looks as they are such a solid support player to shimmers (especially from indies), but they also work wonderfully for liners.
There are a few shades that you should expect to layer due to some patchiness on the first layer: Scream of Consciousness, Marigold, Spectre, and No Queen Blues.
Genuinely one of the most versatile formulas I’ve encountered, and I will always respect a brand that both stands so solidly on their formula and listens to their customer base to broaden the offering. While I previously didn’t have the *perfect* shade to act as a kind of “skin-tone evening” base for me, Daydreamer is now absolutely that girl. I think you can tell even from the built up swatch how easily it disappears into my skin!
Lastly, I really enjoy the packaging of these. The soft matte finish and the rounded square shape makes them really easy to hold without slipping. The flat paddle style of applicator also allows you a lot of control, both in terms of how much product you’re able to wipe off (if desired) before going onto your lid and also fitting into the smaller spaces of your eyes.
About Face sits pretty solidly in what I would call mid-tier pricing: A little above drugstore but not yet high-end (and honestly maybe more similar to drugstore these days with how prices have increased). On top of that, they are usually applicable for Ulta coupons, and they also have good site discounts as well. Most were purchased during 40-50% sales, such as Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty.
