Violette_FR Plume Eyeshadow

Plume Eyeshadows are the newest addition to the cream-to-powder textures that have been incredibly popular over the last few months. I picked up three matte shades (Feather Matte Veil) and two shimmer shades (Feather Shimmer Veil).

These are genuinely a joy to apply because they’re EASY. Their smooth pigment allows for a seamless application and blend, and they are readily buildable while having the most flattering finish on the lids. Swatches are built up, but because of the formula, you can see the soft natural blending at the edges.

The mattes have a slightly more firm putty texture, while the shimmers have a bit more give (similar to something like Mac Glow Play blushes). In terms of effect, the mattes are quite blurring and the shimmers are what I would describe as glimmery – not metallic, not a topper, but a fine sparkle mixed in that catches the light.

For reference, swipe to see the difference between the Violette and Fara Homidi textures. Fara Homidi’s are much more “wet” and moussey in texture. The Violette shadows still give that effortless, lived-in look but creased less on me – though I wouldn’t recommend either if you want to avoid creasing altogether.

The packaging is a transparent blue, lightweight plastic. As someone who enjoys the full experience of makeup vs. only the utilitarian aspect, I personally was a little disappointed by how they felt in hand. The material really reminds me of those plastic manual toothbrush holders at the drugstore (sorry, I can’t help my brain’s accurate but displeasing analogy!). However, the compact is sturdy and easy to open/hold, which I think the unique sea glass-esque shape contributes to. Also, I haven’t tried myself, but I think there is a hole in the back of the compact to depot these if you wished?

Something told me I wouldn’t be disappointed in these, and while I don’t think these are for everyone, I’m really pleased. Here’s to hoping for more shades because I might be first in line.
