Nabla Cosmetics Beyond Jelly Lipstick | Nabla recently expanded their lipstick shade ranges, and these tones combined with this formula are a true treat.
My first foray into this formula was after @teresaglina had been raving about it for a while, with Luz being the initial shade I tried, and I immediately understood her love for it. It’s plush and cushiony, enveloping your lips so that it sticks around longer than many other glossy lips without feeling heavy. The slightly thicker formula also kind of “floats” over your lip lines so that they are visually more diffused, resulting in them looking smoother and plumper without any of the typical plumping sensation.
They’re also very easy to apply and very buildable, going from sheer to ~medium coverage. Normally I’m quite skeptical of a formula like this building because they can have a tendency to either go a little gloopy or not build the pigment evenly – Nabla does not fall victim to either of those. They’re just very comfortable without ever needing to worry about patchiness when you apply or as it wears.
Specific to the crystal finish, I cannot feel the shimmer particles at all – even when the lip color itself has worn away and the shimmer remains on your lips. They are very fine and really just contribute to the shade catching the light more and therefore appearing more shiny.
Lastly, I can’t talk about Nabla without talking about the packaging. It is substantial, both in feel and function, having a very solid feel in hand, secure closures, and a lot of control over the twist mechanism. Each lipstick finish in the line is differentiated primarily by the finish on the outside casing – in this instance, glossy – and sometimes by the color. For instance, two of the crystal shades I have came from a holiday run and are in sparkly red packaging, and two are from the collaboration with @mrdanielmakeup and are in a warm gray packaging.
All in all, while Nabla is higher priced, this indie brand’s products genuinely feel luxurious (sometimes more so than beauty products from luxury fashion houses). The artistry draws you in, but the products keep you coming back ✨
