Saie Beauty SuperSuede Baked Eyeshadow | Relationship status: It’s complicated…
When this single eyeshadow release was announced, I was genuinely so looking forward to it. Saie’s baked powders have been raved about by so many, and this felt like it was finally my time to try it after the tones in existing product lines being too warm or saturated for my preference.

There are technically two different formulas in this line: demi-matte and low-lit shimmer. However, that’s actually where the first bit of confusion comes in – different shades don’t give the same effect.
Within the shimmer formula, I picked up Sorbetto and Tartufo. Tartufo serves as a beautiful one-and-done for both my skin tone and preferences, as it’s a warmer-leaning taupe without too much depth. It much more closely resembles a satin finish though, and while I still enjoy the finish and think it suits for a particular audience, describing it as any level of shimmer misrepresents the product.

Sorbetto is more of that “low-lit shimmer” but not necessarily with the same smoothness that I’ve become accustomed to with baked formulas. It has a sheer (effectively transparent) base color loaded with actual shimmers that can either be built up or sheered out, giving a genuinely beautiful twinkle.
The final shade I picked up is Tiramisu, as I thought it might be a good deepening shade to pair with the shimmers. It’s a lovely warm charcoal/cool brown type of shade that is very smooth and seamless – no issues to report! I do hope that they release more shades, including cooler neutrals, given how warm Panna Cotta is as an all-over, subtle matte lid shade.
Lastly, I do want to touch on a little bit of an elephant in the room. These are very expensive single shadows $/g – more so than even Chantecaille. While I’m often okay to buy a smaller product and spend less money, especially a single shadow lover, this just feels less considered than it should be considering other options.
| Brand | Product | $ | g | $/g |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Saie | SuperSuede Baked Eyeshadow | 24 | 1 | $24.00 |
| Victoria Beckham Beauty | Lid Lustre | 40 | 5 | $8.00 |
| Hourglass | Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow | 30 | 3.5 | $8.57 |
| Urban Decay | Moondust Eyeshadow | 25 | 1.7 | $14.71 |
| Dior | Diorshow Mono Couleur | 37 | 2 | $18.50 |
| Marc Jacobs Beauty | Born Star Eyeshadow | 29 | 1.5 | $19.33 |
| Chantecaille | Luminescent Eye Shade | 58 | 2.5 | $23.20 |
TL;DR As marketed, the particular expectation outlined doesn’t necessarily match the experience, so I’d just warn for you to be well-informed of what a given shade delivers.
