r.e.m. beauty Sweet Dreams Eyeshadow Singlet | My first eyeshadows from the brand!
I’ve heard so many good things about r.e.m. beauty’s eyeshadow formula from the quads that I decided to pick up both singles from the En Pointe holiday release, which are described as silky, having a luminous duochrome finish, and delivering rich color payoff.

Velvet Étoile (a shimmering taupe) of course was the first to draw me in. It’s just my weakness, okay?! And I will say this one is genuinely stunning. It has some larger silver particle sizes mixed into the multidimensional shimmer that still lay down flat but catch the light so beautifully. You can do a light layer for a bit of extra pizazz or build it up for a real glam moment, and it has just enough base pigment to even out your lid without having to be the only influence of color.

Starlit Slipper, on the other hand, is sadly unimpressive. Described as an icy blue to silver duochrome, it just falls a bit flat. The particle size is smaller and more uniform, which isn’t a bad feature but one that I think dulls its shine in this case because it doesn’t catch the light in a way where that duochrome is visible… like, at all. It’s also a bit difficult to build to get any more impact out of it using either finger or brush. And lastly, it doesn’t really offer any sort of meaningful base pigment, so I personally feel the need to wear a separate shadow under it, which I wasn’t necessarily expecting. Not a bad shadow but just a fine one, and honestly? I don’t want to bring “fine” into my collection when I have much better options to accomplish a similar icy/wintry look, especially with a $24 price tag.
Regarding the texture, these have that hydrated, slightly thicker texture that can bind to itself when picking up with a finger but spreads out easily on the lid.

As a lightweight plastic material, the packaging is nothing special per se but does feel sturdy for what it is and is easy to interact with. I also appreciate the petite size, though you don’t get an excessive amount of product.
All in all, I am glad I tried these and am thrilled to have this lovely taupe but may soon be passing on Starlit Slipper. If you’ve tried the quads, does this texture sound similar, or is it a different formula? I’m still intrigued to try Fembot Fatale and maybe Nightcap in Tokyo!
