Hince Half-Moon Cheek | A product that might fit the bill for the trending “anti-blush” without directly being beige in the pan.
Hince released this new cream-to-powder formula earlier this year, and I’ve been pretty impressed. Instead of leaning towards the more typical natural or dewy finishes, these are solidly a soft matte. While they have a bit of slip in the pan, they almost immediately adopt that more powdery – but not dry – finish. They even have a really flattering blurring finish on the cheeks, which I don’t find to be too common in cream cheek products.
In terms of texture, they have kind of a play dough type of feeling, where you have to apply a little bit of pressure for it to pick up or move around in the pan but that then holds its shape. I don’t consider this a bad thing at all because it makes the application very controlled and the pigmentation levels buildable. On my skin tone, they are extremely approachable and can give a beautiful natural flush with tones ranging from cool to warm depending on your undertone.
However, because of the tones themselves and with them being accompanied by a lighter base, I really wouldn’t recommend these to anyone deeper than – at the deepest – a light skin tone simply because I don’t think they’ll show up!
These have become a product I can reach for when I just don’t want to think about what cheek color will suit the rest of my makeup. They’re never overwhelming and don’t introduce a texture that requires more consideration to apply.
I enjoyed the first two I picked up (Allure Moon and Trench) so much that I picked up Dolce and Bubble upon their release!
