Bbia Chaltteok Blush | It is so rare that I am drawn to an entire blush release, and yet here we are. As soon as I saw the promo photos, that delicious cream-to-powder texture drew me in while the shades are what made me stay.
These are marketed as a chaltteok-inspired blush, which I understand to be a sort of Korean sticky rice cake. I could most closely envision this as mochi to get a better idea, and that is in fact how they are listed on the Olive Young site as well.

While I’m still getting to know these, I’ve been so impressed with the amount of blurring they give to the cheeks. It genuinely appears as though your complexion is instantly diffused as though with a filter. They also blend super easily, but more on that below.
These shades. Firstly, can we talk about the inclusion of a white? I have only seen matte highlights released in the form of a face powder, but not within the same blush formula so that they be so seamlessly mixed. As someone with very fair skin, I rely on having a blending color with some pigment to fill in the difference between my skin and blush, making this a highly appreciated addition. The last four shades have a muted, slightly toasted effect that’s so lovely. The remaining shades are more common but still well-executed and can be used to brighten or concentrate color.

As for the texture, it is slightly more on the firm side of cream-to-powder, but it doesn’t have that velvety feel that many other cream-to-powder products do, instead having a little bit more slip. At first, I thought this might make them more tricky to work with since many brushes might be too soft to pick them up. However, that hasn’t been the case at all when using my typical style of cream blush brush (BK Beauty 109). I think density is the key here.

I also thought there was no way that the included silicone puff would be a useful tool, and again I was proven wrong. The puff both picks up and deposits product so smoothly, evenly, and thinly. You have so much control! It does make the component thicker (but also looks like a mochi 🤍).
