Anastasia Beverly Hills Genesis Eyeshadow Palette | This is feeling like old-school ABH but with a modern twist.

This eyeshadow palette is the first that I’ve picked up in a long time from ABH, but going in with my experience from palettes like Modern Renaissance worked pretty well. These shadows are more on the powdery side, so you will have some kickup in the pans when dipping in your brush, but I don’t find it’s anything excessive. They’re also pretty pigmented (but not overwhelmingly so) and are really easy to blend.

The shadows don’t really have names (designated as A1-C4) but are swatched from left to right, top to bottom. The first column of the palette is where the shimmers are located, with the following three columns being all mattes.

The first shimmer is described as a “multi-chrome opal with sparkling reflects” which I think is taking a bit of creative liberty, lol. It’s essentially a transparent champagne base with a cool, pinky lilac reflect and has the largest particle size. The second is a fine champagne that’s a bit deeper in tone (and for reference, is too deep to brighten on me). The last is sort of a purply-red bronze.

There’s nothing either disappointing or overly impressive about the performance of this palette and is a situation where what you see is what you get if that makes sense? I have a feeling though that if you have an olive undertone, this might especially be a dream neutral palette for you with the overall cooler tones and more purple and mauve leaning shades.

Regarding the packaging, I love how compact it is – it’s quite similar in size to the Makeup by Mario Masters Mattes palettes but just a bit taller and has a nicely sized mirror. However, it does have a raised design on the front that takes up a little more of a footprint during storage.

It may not be one that enters my daily rotation, but I was pleased to see a release from the brand that feels more aligned to older palettes. What do you think of this one?
